About Sarah
I’m Sarah, the person behind Hagg Hill Farm.
This farm is my home, my work and something I am building piece by piece. What you see here isn’t the result of a development company arriving with a finished blueprint. Much of the restoration, planting, painting, weeding, decorating and day-to-day care is done by me.
Over time, I’ve come to appreciate the kind of luxury that isn’t about excess. It’s the freedom to be quiet, to find a little distance from everyday demands, to enjoy something made thoughtfully and to feel entirely at ease.
Those ideas shape the place I’m creating.
A place with its own rhythm
Hagg Hill sits among around 22 acres of orchard, ancient woodland and open land above the Derwent Valley. Rather than try to make every corner manicured or identical, I want the landscape to reveal what it can become. I plant with an eye to wildlife, beauty, food, future seasons and the people who will spend time here.
The Cottage is an established, private country stay. Around it, I’m developing Roots & Restore in the orchard, with The Hut, Dotty, The Static and a dedicated Treatment Hut. In the Woodland, I’m shaping a separate opportunity to switch off and simply be in nature. And through All Bells & Thistles, I make bespoke wreaths, floral pieces and creative workshops.
What a visit really feels like
You shouldn’t expect a polished resort, endless facilities or constant connection. Phone signal can be poor. The ground is naturally uneven in places. The comfort is rustic, personal and genuine, and the solitude is very real.
I like the idea that people can arrive without feeling the need to perform, socialise or follow a timetable. If you want conversation or a creative experience, that can be there too. The point is having a choice.
Looking towards the future
The Meadow Fields, a productive seasonal landscape are part of the longer-term vision. None of these are being presented as finished or open before their time. I’m growing this carefully so that the land remains at the centre of it.
The things I hope people remember most are the warmth of a welcome, the character of the place and how they felt when they left.
Thank you for discovering Hagg Hill Farm as it grows.
