Exhausted, But Still Going

I’m exhausted.
The kind of exhausted that lives behind your eyes and taps gently on your skull all day, reminding you that sleep is a suggestion, not a reality.

And yet… I can’t stop.

Since I started building this website — really building it, properly, with intention and heart — my brain has been on overdrive. Pages, links, wording, colours, buttons, meaning. Everything matters. Everything connects. Everything feels urgent and exciting and alive.

It’s a blessing.
And it’s a curse.

I wake up tired. I go to bed tired. Somewhere in between I’ve probably had too much coffee, not enough water, and a headache that could absolutely be solved by basic self-care… if I could just remember to do it.

My mouth is dry from caffeine.
My head is pounding from staring at a screen too long.
I keep thinking “I’ll just finish this one thing” — and then three hours disappear.

Food?
Ah yes. Food.

I’ve essentially been living on sourdough crumpets. Toasted. Always dripping in butter. Might even have two if I’m feeling wild. They’ve become the unofficial fuel of website-building chaos. Honestly, thank god for them — and thank god for HelloFresh, which arrived like a small, organised miracle at my door.

I might even cook tonight.
I say might — let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

What’s strange is that despite the exhaustion, I feel deeply aligned. This isn’t burnout in the usual sense. It’s not resentment or dread. It’s that feeling of being pulled forward by something that matters so much your body hasn’t quite caught up yet.

I care about this.
About getting it right.
About building something honest, inclusive, calm, and real.

But I’m also learning — slowly, imperfectly — that passion doesn’t cancel out the need for rest. That hydration is not optional. That coffee is not a substitute for water (tragically). And that you can love what you’re creating and still need to stop for five minutes and breathe.

So this is me, mid-build.
Tired. Headachy. Slightly dehydrated. Crumb-covered.
But also grateful.

Because this kind of exhaustion comes from growth.
From trying.
From caring.

And maybe tonight, after one more tweak…
I’ll drink a glass of water.
Cook the HelloFresh.
And let myself rest — just a little — before doing it all again tomorrow.

But that’s a lie.

What will actually happen is this:
I’ll pour a glass of wine. Then another splash because the first one “didn’t count”. I’ll suddenly realise I can’t see my keyboard properly anymore, so the lights will have to go on — which feels aggressive at this hour — and then I’ll be too awake to stop.

The cycle continues.

Dry mouth, tired eyes, wine instead of water, brain still firing off ideas like it’s midday not midnight. ADHD doing its thing. Again. I’ll tell myself this is the last task while already mentally queuing the next three.

And honestly? I’ll probably laugh at myself.
Because if I don’t, I’ll cry — and that feels like too much admin right now.

So here I am.
Exhausted. Amused. Slightly feral.
Still building. Still caring. Still going.

And tomorrow?
We’ll do it all again.
Hopefully with a bit more water.
